The District Court of Guam is proud to announce the 2026 High School Civics Contest sponsored by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and by the District Court of Guam. In keeping with the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the theme of the 2026 contest is "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness – Your Voice. Your Story. Your America.” Entries will be accepted from January 7, 2026 through March 6, 2026 Pacific Time. More information may be found here.
Cash prizes will be awarded to winning essay and video entries! Local (Guam) winners or teams in each category will receive prizes of $300 for 1st place, $200 for 2nd place, and $100 for 3rd place. These winners will then advance to the Ninth Circuit level, where cash prizes of $3,000, $1,700 and $1,000 will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners or teams at that level.
